Course Content:

This course is for students who aspire to the role of a data scientist or simply wish to understand what data scientists do. Students will learn basic fundamentals of the data science life cycle and disciplines used to perform data science tasks. Students will be introduced to the Python programming language and the Azure Machine Learning Studio, applying statistical and machine learning techniques to data.

Objectives:

• Understand the basic concepts and applications of data science techniques

• Understand the differences and applications of supervised vs unsupervised learning, classification, regression and clustering techniques

• Understand the usage of and work with Python modules used for data science: NumPy, Matplotlib, Pandas

• Visualize and prepare data for analysis

• Learn how to handle missing and bad data

• Understand data sampling techniques, training, testing and validation

• Work practical exercises using statistical analysis, linear and logistic regression

• Learn how to interpret model results

Course Outline:

• Download and install Anaconda and other modules

• Discuss the Data Science Lifecycle, goals and objectives of data science tasks

• Python primer for NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib

• Data preparation, extract, transform and load

• Learn and apply techniques to deal with missing and bad data

• Statistic analysis

• Linear regression

• Demonstrate Fraud detection

• Interpreting model results: AIC, BIC, p-values and others

• Explore Machine Learning Studio

How is it free?

Saisoft has been providing no-cost IT Training funded by the State of California’s Employment Training Panel since 2003. This training is available to all employees working in California.

Enrollment Process :

– Employer identifies employees that need training in the courses offered.

– Employer provides its California Tax ID Number, also known as the California Employer Account Number (CEAN) to confirm program eligibility. The CEAN number is listed in Box 15, on the bottom left of the employee’s W-2 form. It is either a seven or eight digit number.

– Saisoft assists the employer to fill out the Certification Form (100E form). The employer faxes or emails it back.

– The employees fill out all the forms on the Forms page, fax their pay stubs (as proof of employment and wages) and attend the training.

– The employees complete their training and resubmit pay stubs ninety days after training ends (called the ‘retention period’) as proof of continued employment and wages.
